Sorry kids, I know I'm running a bit behind, but we'll blame that on the lack of sleep
So I was definately too broke for a plane ticket and ended up deciding to drive to Dallas(8 hours) with MimiC, his mom, and his friend, Caleb. Interesting trip, I'll say that much. A lot of it consisted of browsing through the reallyoldallthewaybackinhighschool CDs that clutter my car. A bunch of chick songs, you know, romantic bullshit I laugh at now. Scary thing was, Caleb knew allll the words to the songs. It was pretty funny. We got several good video clibs of him and Leland(MimiC) singing along to Spice Girls and Kung Fu Fighting. Good times. Anyways, we drove to Leland's uncles' house to spend the night, and had a blast doing charoeke there. [How the F*** do you even spell that?) The next morning we headed to the airport to pick up Erin(Peach) and Missy(Ninja), and learned to google search everything and not trust MLG's directions. Um, yeah. Oh, for any of you planning on traveling to Dallas, get ready for a shitload of tolls. It was ridiculous. Seriously. Arg.
Anyways, we got to the Embassy Suite, and it was amazing. The lobby was huge, gorgeous, and already filling with fellow Halo 2 bks. I got the girls checked into their room, which was a ginormous suite, and hopped back in the car to pick up Felicia(Smiley) and her mom. Yeah, I definately spent half an hour driving in circles through the DFW airport, missing entrances and exits. Nothing is clearly marked in Texas. Ridiculous.
Skip through cursing and further animosity towards architects in Texas to the girls uniting at the hotel and getting phsyched for the FFA. So cute to see the girls all together. And it was awesome to team with them at this event. (I subbed in for Candace(AquA) last minute) These girls are freaking awesome, not only strong players who carried me, but sweet, fun, energetic girls. The place to hang was definately in the hotel lobby. I met soooo many people from my friends' list, it was freaking awesome. Not to mention I got to meet even more new PMS girls, such as PMS Lisa, PMS Coyote(Raven085), soontobe PMS Iris, PMS Telina, PMS Aliki, and so many more. These events are always so much fun, not only to compete at, but meet so many fun and amazing people. Anyways, FFA started, and Missy and Felicia totally destroyed kids, getting 1st in their first round, and then making it all the way to third round. I definately can't wait to see how well they do at the next event! Our team as a whole did really well for playing together the first time Saturday morning. We were untouchable in any flag game, during warm-up or in the matches. Unfortunately, I was a little rusty on slayer after being on a break from Halo due to school/finals/moving/E3, and the girls definately had to carry me. One slayer lockout game, I definately had the least deaths, which is something I've been working really hard on. So yay for me. My other favorite part of MLG events is the late night LANs that always occur. I definately played a lot with some really cool guys, who I promised could be on my myspace, so here they are: They were pretty sick players and all around fun guys, and way fun to smack talk. So I guess that's all for now!
Much love! Oh, and the rest of the pictures are HERE
Shit, where do I start? Do I talk about how we had the most PMS girls at one event that we've ever had? Do I talk about the amazing games coming out? Do I talk about the crazy parties and fun people I met? Or attempt to explain our insane shenanigans in the random pictures I took. How about a compromise? I'll post pictures and explain them.
Well, majority of us arrived Tuesday, and met up at the airport. Talk about a bunch of screaming, hugging, smiling, and near crying. It was soooo good to see my old friends, and meet so many girls I've known online. Not to mention, Rip, my forum buddy and an amazing asset to the h2o community. After eating at Subway, we unpacked and decided to go bowling that night. Our crew that night consisted of myself, Mystik, SOME GIRL, Rambo Rachel, Midol, Dangerdoll, Peachie, Nightwish, Em, Athena, Rip, Patrick, Perfect, Fades, Athena Twin, V3NUS, Sagaciouz, C3LLA, Mage, Calista, Gypsyfly, Darren, Hotchief, and Fragdolls & co. What a blast! Waaaay fun, as my pictures show. We had a blast, though I didn't bowl, I was running around being the picture ninja I am. Some of the highlights were Jinx's granny-style bowling, Rambo Rachel's sugar covered French fries, and just having fun with friends - new and old.
Wednesday was the first day of the convention, so we put on our spiffy Verizon shirts and took the sub to the xbox girls' hotel to have a team meeting. It was great to see the rest of the xbox girls, who looked absolutely gorgeous, like my Mary Jane and my Fart(Tart), along with Skittty and Lady. And we actually got a picture with almost everyone in it! How cool is that? At the expo, we had 3 different groups working. The team I was in charge of was soliciting for Verizon. They have a new high speed Internet out that is amazing, called Fios. What we were promoting is an online tournament for Halflife deathmatch, for which a free download starts May 17th. The tournament is for a grand prize of $100,000 to the 1st place winner, so get the download here and start practicing! Another few girls of ours were working for a gaming chair company called Pyramat. At this booth, 2 people could come up and play two of our girls for a change to win a chair. Let me just say the chances were slim to win a chair, cause not many people were able to beat our girls! Our pretty faces were working with Microsoft, doing interviews and all sorts of fun stuff. You can see them on the xbox and the xboxlive websites. I'll try and find links for ya, don't worry!
One of the coolest things at E3 was the "Women at E3 Unite" photo shoot hosted by the Fragdolls. The idea behind this was to annually take pictures of the women at E3 to show our growing presence in the industry. The first turnout was pretty good, and we got kick-ass shirts that said "Girls FTW" [girls for the win] to take the picture in. You can see the me in the video of it, done by E3updates.com here Actually, all our girls were in a ton of media coverage all over the place. I'll have a list of links of cool stuff for you guys to check out at the end of my blog.
The parties we went to were pretty kickass. Wednesday night was at the House of Blues, and the bastards wouldn't let me take my camera in, so I guess you'll just have to imagine. Some of the girls and I played the Best Buy team, but it was on 360s and pre-patch. I was P2 one match, BXR'd a kid, beat him down twice, and he still didn't die! Yeah, it was pretty frustrating. Other than that, I had a blast. I danced a lot with an old friend, Mike, and it was the most fun dancing I've had in a long time. (no matter how bad he says he is!) The next night our friends from Bungie had a party! It was waaaay fun! I got to see Jaime again, and we talked a bit about Halo 3, then I taught him the current MLG lingo. We had fun taking myspace pictures, too, rofl.
I was late to the XBL party Friday night cause I went to the Fragdoll dinner. Wow, was that ever fun. Between Rambo Rachel's seizure-like impression of Sagaciouz getting her wisdom teeth pulled and my trend setting pictures of everyone spooning while doing the Feday face, I'm surprised my face isn't permanently stuck in a grin. The last night's party was awesome, too. Microsoft threw and Xbox Live Gold membership party in an amazing club, where Crystal Method played and there were new games to play everywhere and an open bar. By time Mark and I got there, everyone was pretty trashed, and I had to send more than one drunkard off by himself, after informing him I was here to dance with my girls, and only my girls. Seriously, though, MS knows how to throw off-the-hook parties. Dancing was waaay fun, as my pictures show.
As for the expo itself, I'm most looking forward to Lost Planet, Gears of War, and F.E.A.R. for the 360. I've been wanting to play F.E.A.R. soooo bad, but it's only been on PC. I swear, once it comes out for the 360, I have every intention of playing it alone, in the dark in my room and scaring myself shitless! Lost Planet was the game I spent the most time playing. It's in 3rd person mode, something I normally can't stand, but this game really drew me in. I can't even explain why. It's really fun, a shooter, of course, with beautiful graphics and interactive game play. At one point, I had to dig in the snow to uncover a new gun. Yeah, I don't know, maybe I'm just easily amused, but I'm looking forward to it's release none-the-less.
Well that's all for now! Of course there's a lot more, but that's a bit too much to blog. If you want the full scoop, hit my cell! Much love!
I'm back. I'm here to shelter, support, provide, whatever you need. I will be your rock, your stone, your safe place.
I leave school tomorrow, after my final. It's kind of sad. My first year of college has drawn to a close. While school's tough, the place sure started to feel like home. I'll miss the breeze drifiting in my window as I slept, the sunlight pouring over campus as I walked to class, the green grass and cherry blossom trees everywhere, the fat squirrels, the students strewn about campus studying or playing frisbee. But it's time for summer. A break. Or will it be?
I leave for E3 Tuesday, and I know it sounds awful, but I'm not really looking forward to it. Sure, the lifestyle of a celebrity looks appealing, and the lifestyle of a gamergirl is pretty close to a celebrety's at these events. But I'm tired of it. The posing for cameras, constantly being surrounded by large groups, being watched, being noticed. I mean, it's great for getting the idea that women can game out there, and showing the world that we can kick ass too, but I'm tired of the spotlight. I want to return to my realm of hoodies and 3 day old mascara and being one of the crowd. Screw beauty, screw glamour, screw fame. I want to game.
On a slightly more chipper note, my hardcore practicing has been paying off. I played with one of my guy friends, and played with him a day later, and our conversation on AIM later went something like this:
thatsjustghey: you are like thatsjustghey: as good as me thatsjustghey:sometimes better marchingrace05: are you serious? marchingrace05: awwww thatsjustghey:sometimes worse thatsjustghey: wait wait thatsjustghey: i want to ask a ? marchingrace05: k thatsjustghey: how the fuck did your BR get so ggod thatsjustghey: good* thatsjustghey: lol marchingrace05:what do you mean? marchingrace05: like recently? thatsjustghey: like it used to blow. but then the other day when we were playying. i like never out BRd you. thatsjustghey: yeah thatsjustghey: like thatsjustghey: in a day marchingrace05: um, yeah
That gave me such a feeling of confidence. The fact that I could work my ass off, and accomplish something, gave me such a feeling of power. It's true, you control your own destiny. I'll keep working hard, do whatever it takes, to help bring my team success. And I'll be there to support out Teen Team on the way, because those girls are amazing, and deserve all the support in the world.
Ok, the update will be brief. MLG NYC was both incredibly amazing, and incredibly sad. MLG has done a great job, the venue was amazing, and how steamlined everything ran was awesome. It was so awesome to meet our Pro girls, they stole my heart, and I love these girls to death. Actually seeing everyone there was awesome, as it always is. I have so many cute pics from the event, here I met a lot of old friends, ones who I've missed dearly, John Carter being one - he's fing amazing, some friends from online and myspace who were way cool to meet and talk to in person, met the guys from team monster who are waaay too much fun to hang out with, and I will def. have to visit them in LA. And for those who are wondering about my new display pic, the coolest new person I met is definately my new H2o, Josh, aka Strotnium. He's not only an amazing player, but so supportive, and pwns at H1. I've generally avoided the H2o community, and seeing as my old H2os are no longer active with me, or halo in general, it's been easy to avoid. But this guy has reminded me why the H2o community was created.
Anyways, I'm a big fan of 3D's new name, the Final Bosses, pretty hillarious if you ask me. Oh, here's my fav pics from the event.
On a final note, I am taking a leave of absence from PMS. I've gotten my teen girls taken care of temporarily, which is my only concern. I will be playing online under a new tag, working on my skills, and getting back to the love of my game. The stress and feelings of betrayal are too much right now. I will miss the girls and be back in close a month, i think.
my heart is splitting in two right now, reading TriXie's blog about the my girls hanging out in Seattle, I wish I was with them. Mary Jane, Tart, V3NUS, and most those other girls are my best friends in the world, and I would give anything just to spend time with them. I have a strange visage right now, my face is a mixture of tears and laughlines, as I listen to the Major Nelson's podcast with the girls.
But somethings I can't do, which leads me to think that my talents are required elsewhere, mainly my Teen PMS division. These girls are our future, and I will do anything I can to help them become better players, as well as future leaders of our clan.
We've lost a lot of divisonal leaders of late, which is going to open up a lot of leadership positions. Some of the reason we've lost those leaders is due to poor leadership skills, which is something I'm going to work hard to improve. Right now I'm working on putting together material to hold leadership seminars for any girl wishing to move up in leadership and help the clan in any way she can. Each seminar will cover different ways to deal with leading, including discipling girls, boosting motivation, or dealing with any issues.
I'm off to get ahead on homework and study for finals, so I'm all caught up before E3. Have a great day, all!
